HARRISON COUNTY ADVENTURE WALK

Leadership Harrison County Class of 2019, client
Two initiatives designed to jointly promote literacy, exercise, time spent outdoors, and togetherness.  A StoryWalk® will be installed along the newly-created section of the Indian Creek Trail connecting downtown Corydon with Hayswood Nature Reserve. StoryWalks® display pages of a children’s book in cases along a path, allowing participants to exercise as they walk to each page and read the story. A new story will be installed regularly, so families and groups can visit often for new experiences. This project is a collaboration with the Harrison County Public Library. The library will maintain and update the StoryWalk® beyond its initial installation.

Adventure Backpacks will be available to check out for free at locations in downtown Corydon, such as the Harrison County Public Library, with other potential locations to be determined. Adventure Backpacks encourage the study of the natural environment.
Materials inside the packs will lend insight into local flora and fauna.
